Module 6: AC Measurements

Dear Studnets
  1. Refer to the multimeter reading shown in the figure below and answer the questions:
    a. Is the multimeter displaying the rms voltage or the peak voltage?
    _____________________________________________________
    b. What is the peak voltage?
    _____________________________________________________
  2. If the frequency set on the function generator = 500 Hz and if the oscilloscope reading gives 550 Hz, calculate the percent error in frequency.

Module 5_DC Measurements

Dear Students
Answer the following questions......

  1. List three devices/appliances that operate on dc voltage and three devices that operate on ac voltage.

  2. A certain resistor has the following values:

  • Color code value=220 Ω,

  • Measured value = 223 Ω,

  • Tolerance = 5%
    Calculate the following values:

  • Tolerance

Module 4_Speed Measurments

Dear Students:
For the lifting system below :
1. prove that : D2/D1=N2/N1
where that D1,D2 are the diameter of the driver and driven gear respectively. and N1 and N2 are the RPM for the driver and the driven gear respectively.

2. For the lifting system shown above, Gear B is used to lift the Box C, if driving gear A is rotating at 30 RPM, find the linear speed of the box C.

Module 3- Force, Weight and Pressure Measurments

Dear Students,
You need to solve the two assignments below:
Assigment 1
a car is moving/climbing a an inclined surface of an angle 30 degrees, if the acceleration of the car is 3 m/s2 and the car mass is 1200 kg:
answer the following questions:
  • The forces that affects the car motion.
  • Calculate the engine propelling force , assuming only the friction force, the engine force and the gradient force affects the car motion.
Assigment 2
Identify a real-life example of force/weight/pressure measurement. Create a Wiki, a poster or a brochure describing the following:
1. Real life application/example.
2. Role of force, weight and pressure measurement in that system.
3. Force, weight and pressure measuring instruments used in this application.

Module 2_Measurments and Error Analysis

Dear Students
The diameter of a wire was measured by a group of students with a micrometer, and the following readings were recorded:
2.65, 2.64 , 2.63 , 2.69, 2.66 , 2.7 , 2.71, 2.62 , 2.62 , 2.60

Calculate
  • the average
  • the standard deviation
  • calculate the accuracy, if the true value is 2.65.
